Introduction

Pre-natal care is essential for the development of children at the age of 0 to 8 years old. Children at this age need special care and attention to develop their physical, emotional, cognitive and social skills. However, most parents in Malaysia do not have the opportunity to be together with their new born child all day long because of their professional carrier and they have to work to earn their living. Those who can afford maid will leave their new born child with the maid at home. The dependent on maids as the care giver to our young children has become an unhealthty phenomenon due to many factors such as, the rising cost of living, the quality of the care given to our children, and the uncertainties in regulation and laws pertaining to the employement of maids in this country. The only alternative that parents have is to send their children to nursery and day care centre in replace of hiring a maid. How reliable are these nursery and early childhood care center in providing pre-natal care for holistic development of our children is being questioned by many today.

The workshop

The workshop will cover four critical areas in early child care practices;

i. the importance and effectiveness of children"s health care at early stage;
ii. commitment to develop children intellectual needs;
iii. development of languange and literacy skills;
iv. nurturing of young children's social skill before they reach the preschool age.

Ann Kwan holds a B.A. Social Science Degree from London. She has worked many years in the corporate sector. In 1997, Ann and her sisters worked with Helen O'Grady to establish the first Helen O'grady Children's Academy. Now they are the Master franchise holder of Malaysia, Brunei and Thailand.

Ann Kwan is currently one of our children consultant/speaker in our workshops and seminars. Ann strongly believes that children need to cummunicate efectively, relate confidently with their peers and achieving a balance in their lives.

Hampir setiap hari kita membaca, mendengar, melihat dan mengalami sendiri masalah-masalah kekeluargaan yang berlaku di dalam masyarakat kita. Puan Hajjah Zaidah Haron

Puan Hajjah Zaidah Haron is a consultant on family matters, a syarie council and a managing partner of a legal firm based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. She has served with the government before practicing as a solicitor. She was a counselor at the Islamic Centre in Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania, U.S.A. and also rendered her volunteer services at Pittsburgh Centre for International Visitors, U.S.A. whiles accompanying her husband persuading his PHD there.

Upon returning from U.S.A, she then entered and was apart of the corporate world holding a position of Manager of Legal and Compliance of a stock brocking company for 3 years. After setting-up her own legal firm, Puan Zaidah has become more passionate on family matters. Currently, apart from managing the legal firm she is also active in giving talks, workshops and is a consultant on wealth/property management and family matters.

Associate Prof. Dr. Mahzan Arshad

Dr. Mahzan Arshad is our senior consultant who is an expert in early childhood education. He is currently an Associate Professor at Department of Language and Literacy Education, Faculty of Education, University of Malaya. His area of expertise are on:-

Early Childhood Language And Literacy Eduction (Early literacy)
Language Education And Malay Literature (Malay language education, Malay literature education)
Reading And Literacy Education (Reading education, literacy education)

Dr Mahzan Arshad has published and co-published books on education, literacy, text books and reference books for secondary school students. Dr. Mahzan Arshad also has presented many papers and journals at conferences locally and internationally.
